A CALL TO IMMEDIATE ACTION PLEASE!!! Letters | Emails | Calls to Congress urging NO to this devastating BILL (Use following guidelines...) We write with deep urgency and concern about the so called “One Big Beautiful Bill”—what many are rightly calling the “Big Ugly Bill”—which has just passed the Senate and is now before the House. I urge you to send letters and emails and make calls to Congress and urge them to vote NO on this devastating proposal. This legislation dangerously shifts $1.3 trillion in food and healthcare assistance to benefit the wealthiest Americans. It would add over $3.3 trillion to the national debt and gut social safety nets at a time when families, workers, and entire communities are already stretched thin. Its impact would be catastrophic—from newborns to seniors nearing the end of life. Key Harms of the “Big Ugly Bill” 1. Exploding National Debt & Unstable Economy • Adds $3.3 trillion to the national deficit over the next decade—and raises the debt-to-GDP ratio to 130% . • Jeopardizes U.S. creditworthiness, prompting bond rating downgrades and undermining global confidence in our financial leadership. • Spurs unsustainable increases in interest rates and inflation—hardest on working and fixed income families. 2. Severe Health Care Cuts • Slashes over $1.1 trillion from Medicaid, ACA, and Medicare—threatening coverage for 12–16 million Americans (). • Forces work requirements, copays, and eligibility hurdles—which will knock out seniors, children, people with disabilities, and rural families . • Risks closure of over 25% of nursing homes and waves of hospital shutdowns—eliminating critical local care and jobs. • Invokes preventable deaths—estimated at over 50,000 die annually due to loss of coverage 3. Food Insecurity & SNAP Cuts • Cuts $1.3 trillion in nutrition assistance—removing benefits from millions of children and seniors . • Governors warn SNAP slashes will “blow holes in state budgets” and elevate hunger in the most vulnerable communities . • Strips ability for families to afford groceries—undermining public health, school readiness, and community well-being. 4. Job Loss and Local Economic Collapse • Eliminates 1.7 million construction jobs (funded by these cuts) • Health sector layoffs: nearly 477,000 health care workers at risk—including nurses, aides, providers . • Rural hospitals and nursing homes slated for closure—huge job, economic, and service losses in smaller communities 5. Deep Wealth Transfer to the Wealthy • Forces American families to lose essential services to finance permanent tax breaks for millionaires—which would receive nearly 300× more benefit than families earning under $50,000 . • These are not modest cuts—they’re historic wealth grabs cloaked in deficit and budget rhetoric. This bill betrays the hopes of everyday Americans and runs directly counter to our duties as public servants. It’s not just a poor policy—it’s a moral failure. I plead with you to write, call and email Congress to Please vote NO on the “Big Ugly Bill.” Please encourage them not allow them to trade the welfare of the unborn and the dying, the hungry and the hardworking, for more wealth at the top, ballooning debt, and shattered communities. We need leadership grounded in justice, stewardship, and compassion—not this. I trust you will stand with vulnerable Americans and our shared principles. Please show up and show out in support of all of us. It is not too late to speak truth to power-there is strength in numbers. Can we Count on YOU! Thank you for representing your voices to Congress... - Audree
